The question is : Is it moral for societies to develop weapons of mass destruction for any reason?
My Answer:
No. Im only saying it that way because i hate violence. I dont believe it is right to make gases that choke and blind people just because you dont beileve in the same thing. I dont believe in the killing of innocent bystanders that are neutral and dont take for any side. They have to have murder in their hearts to even create these weapons. When people make these cannons all they are thinking about are either liberating, creating,or destroying. If you want to gain land or power they never did any of that with non-violence.

Procedure
1. First our group thought of the angle of the barrel that would propel the nerf ball a descent distance.
3. We then marked on the tennis ball tubes where we were going to cut. On one of the tubes we marked a 45 degree angle on the side to refer to when cutting.
4. Our team then taped the tubes together following the guidelines of our sketch and marks on the tubes.

Chemistry Component
Design Plan-
My team decided to use one canister to hold up the chamber where the chemical reaction is going to take place. We did this so than the chamber can be 45 degrees angled and the cannon would be suffecient in height and length travel. We have the caps to the cans holding up the cannon for stability after the nerf ball is fired , just in case there is any back fire that should occur our cannon would still be in place.
The Gas Law-
The gas law i chose to use is Boyles. In his law volume and pressure are inversely proportional is exactly what we need for this project. The smaller the chamber the more pressure builds up making our cannon ball go a greater distance. We are using ethanol. The amount would have to be perfect. The slightest change could ruin everything because, we want oxygen to be an excess, but wrong measures and it would become the limiting reagent. In this cannon experiment we need ethanol as the limiting reagent, not oxygen.
The Chemical Reaction- This is the combustion of Ethanol in Oxygen
C2H5OH+302---->2CO2+3H20

Cannon Blog: Math Component
Initial velocity equation: (speed (ft/sec))cos(launch angle)
Quadratic model h = -16t2+v0t+h0
A cannonball is shot upward from the upper deck of a fort with an initial velocity of 192 feet per second. The deck is 32 feet above the ground.
Quadratic Model: h=-16t2 +192t+32
1. How high does the cannonball go? __608_feet___
2. How long is the cannonball in the air? ___12.16 seconds__
My steps for completing this:
1. Put 192(ft/sec) for V0. Put 32 feet for the h0 in the equation.
2. Plug the formula above into a graphing calculator and than graph
3. Hit 2nd , graph to get to the table.Once you are their, find the vertex of the graph and that shows how high the cannonball goes.
4. To find how long the cannonball was in the air, you use the quadratic formula and find the positive x-intercept.
Social Impacts
In the Pre-1800s cannons were used to create, the cannon was the Pot-de-fer, the wars were the Hundred Years War and in conflicts against Cambrai and Quesnoy. The outcome was the European discovery of the New World.
In the 1800s-1900s, the 12-Pounder Bronze gun and the Parrot Rifle were both used in the American Civil War, the war was to liberate. The outcomes: On June 15,1845 the "Treaty of Ghent" ended the war. The slaves were set free. 902 million people died throught this war. The tax on cotton went up 12% for the farmers in New England.
In the 1900s-Modern the G5 Howitzer and 2S4 Tyulpan were used in th South African Border War and The Afghanistan and Chechnya wars. The cannons used help end apartheid. The outcomes of these wars were the discriminatory legislation was repealed and the social atmosphere was better off.

Economic Impacts
The gun Pot-de-fer was used to conquer land. The G5 Howitzer was used to gain power to liberate. It was needed to show that the Africans werent going to stand the apartheid anymore. The 2S4 Tyulpan was used to gain power. The 12- Pounder Bronze Gun and Parrot Rifle were used to liberate also, they wanted to release all the slaves.
Pre-1800's
Pot-de-fer (1326)-
These cannons were made from iron it’s the first metal cannon. Used in the Hundred Years War in France in a raid on Southampton. They were also used in battles Cambrai, and Quesnoy. In french the name means "iron pot”. They were sometimes made with cast bronze. It was basically an iron bottle with a narrow neck. Its ammunition was powder and an iron arrow-like bolt that had iron on it. The middle of the bolt was probably wrapped in leather for a good fit, necessary to enhance the force from the pressure which was a gas that was in the cannon. The cannon were set off through a small-diameter hole, a hot red wire was inserted to set off an explosion and that is what fired the cannon. A bolt, called a garrot, showed from the muzzle. They might have been used against the Scottish by the English. An early French reference to these cannon was pot de fer a traire garros meaning an iron jug for throwing arrows.
